I was disappointed that Fred Pohl was not at the con.

I was wondering if anyone had more information about why he couldn't make and how he is doing.

Same here. I was a bit bummed that I was busy in the anime room at the time when he was supposed to show and probably wouldn't get an autograph - much less the ability to hear his stories in a panel - out of it, but his not showing up at all is obviously much worse to think about.

Pohl has updated his blog since the time of the con, and mostly comments on his recent travel.  I interpret this as being somewhat reassuring.

Sorry for the non-response, I thought I already had responded!
Fred was unable to make the convention for health reasons, but nothing so major that anyone should worry.  And yes, he posted to his blog after the convention, so you can follow along with him there.
